Being a Grandparent

What greater reward is there for having raised a child than being blessed with Grandchildren. There is such magic in being a beloved grandparent. Building a strong bond with those great kids is not all that difficult. It just takes a whole lot of love, a little bit of effort, some much prized energy and a touch of ingenuity. Whether watching them on date night, providing much needed Mommy relief or keeping them for a week when a new baby comes, if you take a little time to prepare you can have great fun together and build a strong bond.

My husband and I currently have been married for 40 years, and counting. We have 5 wonderful children whom we adore and have, thus far, provided us with 10 of the best grandchildren any grandparent could wish for. In a world of turmoil, violence and uncertainty children can use ALL the love and security they can get. We wanted our grandchildren to feel that love, see the beauty in the world and develop a strong self confidence. We decided to look for opportunities to build strong bonds with them. We started early with special days spent with us and established traditions of getaways, Christmas parties and celebrating special milestones in their lives. The getaways are explained later in the site and we may later add a page for our Christmas tradition. Whatever the occasion, find a way to celebrate it. Large or small each moment makes a difference.
